IVANNA FILIPENKO Ivanna, mezzo-soprano, has earned her Masters Degree in Vocal Performance at the Lysenko Conservatoryy. Since her opera debut as Terpelykha in the opera ''Natalka Poltavka'' in 1991, she was engaged as a principal soloist of the Lviv State Opera, Ukraine for several years. Ivanna made her 1994 European debut in the roles of Flora and Anina in La Traviata with Krakow Opera and as Fenena in Nabucco with Kosice City Opera. In 1996 she performed at BASOTI opera program, San Francisco as Azucena in Il Travatore, as Marcellina in Le Nozze di Figaro, and as Mrs. Quickly in Falstaff. Her repertoire includes the title role of Carmen with S.F. Lyric Opera in 1998 and with Golden West Opera in 2002, Olga in Eugene, Oregon, Suzuki in Madame Butterfly, Lyubasha in The Tsar's Bride, Konchakovna in Prince Igor, Old Gypsy in Aleko. She was featured in many Bay Area productions such as Golden Gate Opera, North Bay Opera, Berkeley Opera, Ohlone Symphony Orchestra and Russian Opera. She appeared as a guest soloist in Spain, France, Germany, Bulgaria, and throughout the U.S. In concert, she enjoys singing the works of Mozart, Bach, Verdi, Bizet, Gershwin, and Lloyd Webber. In addition to her activity as a soloist, Ms. Taratula is a vocal coach and member of the Music Teachers Association of California since 1997. |
